Watch out Fletch…

…there may well be a rival on the block for laidbackitude in the mystery solving stakes. Yesterday I stumbled across none other than Johnny Staccato, who is not only a private detective, but a jazz pianist private detective. And not just that, when Frank Kane’s pulp classic was adapted for TV by he was played by John Cassavetes. How much more cigarette-danglingly, Dutch-tiltingly cool could this guy cat get? I am now dedicating myself to getting my hands on some of the 27 episodes made from 1959-1960, and watching them in a dark room whilst wearing a beret, daddio.
